My name is Susan Longe and I am located in Vergennes, Vermont. I provide garden maintenance, consultation and design services in Addison and southern Chittenden counties. I have a passion for colors, flowers, textures, plants, and how gardens evolve over a season and over the years. I am a one-person business using organic gardening practices and non-motorized hand tools. I am a Vermont Certified Horticulturist (you can ask me what that means!) with 8 years of experience at a local nursery and many more growing plants in my own gardens.
Services I perform:
* Spring and fall clean up: I will come to your home and cut back all perennials as appropriate, weed, fertilize, edge and mulch (if desired) your garden beds. If requested or needed, I will also do light pruning of shrubs.
* Regular maintenance: I will come to your home at regular intervals, agreed upon by both parties, and will weed, deadhead, fertilize, re-edge (if desired) and generally keep your gardens looking good! I can also divide and transplant perennials as needed, as well as planting new perennials and annuals.
* Garden Design: I will draw a plan for your garden plot -- either existing or new -- paying attention to sunlight, soil and other environmental conditions as well as your preference for specific plants and flower colors. I personally pay attention to foliage texture, color, and shape when designing gardens as well as spacing bloom time throughout the summer. I can purchase the plants and install the garden or you can implement the plan yourself.
* Consultation: Many people buy a home with existing gardens and would like to garden themselves but are unfamiliar with the plants and how to care for them. I would love to come to your home and teach you what plants you have and what kind of care they need.
If there is a service you would like me to perform that is not listed above, please speak with me and I may be able to help you. Services I am not qualified or able to perform include: applying pesticides, designing entire landscape plans, lawn mowing, building stone walls, patios or walkways, planting trees and large shrubs. I may be able, however, to help you find someone to help with those services.
